Anjan Kumar, M.D.


Anjan Kumar, M.D., is board certified in Internal Medicine and Neurocritical Care. He is board eligible in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He received his Doctor of Medicine, graduating Cum Laude, from the University of Debrecen School of Medicine & Health Science Center in Debrecen, Hungary. Prior to Graduation from Medical school he spent a year at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, completing the 5th pathway program. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan, under Jonathon Zimmerman, M.D. He subsequently completed an additional year as Chief Resident at Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center, and then went on to complete his fellowship in Neurocritical Care at the University of Miami – Jackson Memorial Hospital under Kristine O’ Phelan, M.D., and world renowned (Founding Fellow FIA institute For Motor Sports Safety) motor sports expert Stephen Olvey, M.D. Dr. Kumar went on to further specialize by doing a Pulmonary Medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida, under Laurence A. Smolley, M.D., and completing his Critical Care Medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Education Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, under Eduardo Mireles-Cabodevila, M.D., and Rendell W. Ashton, M.D.

Special interests include Neurotrauma, Traumatic Brain Injury, Multimodality monitoring,  Critical Care Ultrasound, Endobronchial Ultrasound for Lung Cancer staging, and Pulmonary Hypertension.

Dr. Kumar practices primarily at St. John Hospital & Medical Center and is on staff at a number of other hospitals in the area.

Dr. Kumar sees patients in the outpatient setting at our St. Clair Shores office.
